Concrete cinder blocks meet marble slabs, giving Stussy’s newest Toronto retail store a sense of polished industrialism. Living florae breathe life into the cold, unfinished construction site environment.
Process & Planning
Ventilation ducts of galvanized steel are exposed, in some areas serving as planters or shelving. Throughout the space, distinct, polished construction materials are repurposed as furniture, racks and shelving. Wood and steel drywall studs are used for the areas along the walls to divide the space into sections. The bottom half of the white walls are painted grey, reminiscent of a factory floor. Cinderblocks serve as the base for built-in furniture, while marble provides a surface for a sleek finish.
