Creative Direction, Scenic Design and Video Content
In 2012, Jay Z hosted eight shows for the official opening of the Barclay Center in Brooklyn. WP&A designed a concert with optical illusions and visual distortions that repeatedly captivated audiences.
Process & Planning
In the center of the stadium was an imposing glass monolith. Stage lighting was minimalistic, video elements were concealed behind two-way glass panes. Each element was perfectly hidden to draw the audience to the skyscraper-like monument. Through reduction the show evolves and missing components reveal themselves.
